Elise Stefanik In, Liz Cheney Out

#GoodMorningDC. Is Liz Cheney a stalking horse for the Democrats?

Good Morning DC with Chief White House Correspondent Ksenija Pavlovic Mcateer

Good Morning DC! By 9 AM this morning, the Facebook oversight board will announce their decision whether to reinstate Trump’s account. Either way, Trump has launched a new digital space on his website where his followers can come to read and share the latest From the desk of Donald J. Trump.

"President Trump’s website is a great resource to find his latest statements and highlights from his first term in office, but this is not a new social media platform," Jason Miller clarified."We’ll have additional information coming on that front in the very near future," he added.

DNC announced a $20 million investment to ensure Democrats win in 2021 and 2022. The latest election effort represents their earliest and largest midterm investment ever.

Former President Trump is flirting with the idea of running again in 2024 but he does not want to make an announcement too soon because of the campaign finance regulations.

Ted Cruz had dinner with Trump last night at Mar-a-Lago. "He’s in great spirits!" said Cruz."We spent the evening talking about working together to re-take the House & Senate in 2022."

In the meantime, there is a faction within GOP that is pushing for Liz Cheney to become a presidential nominee in 2024 and lead Republicans into the future. Such a scenario is likely to occur should Cheney survive a confidence vote on May 12, and get re-elected in Wyoming next year, a political battlefield that will test Trump's voter influence.

Trump wants to oust Cheney, and Kevin McCarthy is leading the way. Appearing on Fox News on Tuesday morning, House Minority Leader said that "I have heard from members, concerned about her [Cheney] ability to carry out the job as conference chair, to carry out the message." Making the case as a matter of unity, McCarthy added that  "We all need to be working as one if we're able to win the majority. Remember, majorities are not given, they are earned, and that's about the message about going forward."

The truth is, McCarthy lost confidence in Cheney, and while he and Scalise were willing to have her back in February when we published the scoop about what happened behind the closed doors, they are eager to cut her loose now.

Early this morning, Jason Miller shared his thoughts on Cheney. "Liz Cheney is a warmonger," Miller said."Her continual “forever war” advocacy is out of step with the Republican base."

Who is poised to replace Liz Cheney at the House Republican conference? Meet New York's Elise Stefanik, Trump's staunch defender who burst on the national scene during the first impeachment. She's already working the phones to secure broader support within the party after Trump gave her his stamp of approval. Jim Jordan is on board, and that means the Freedom Caucus is too.

Nancy Pelosi issued a memo in response to the likely removal of Cheney as a Conference chair. "From the GOP Leadership: Help Wanted – Non-Threatening Female," the title reads. Stefanik, despite Pelosi branding her as a "non-threatening female," has a strong record in recruiting women for the Republican Party.

Question: Wouldn't "non-threatening [Republican] female" be desirable for Pelosi if the Democrats intend to keep the House?

In war and politics, you get to see many unholy alliances. Still, Pelosi going across the aisle to interject herself in GOP internal issues to defend Liz Cheney is an odd one.

Question: Is Liz Cheney a stalking horse for the Democrats?

In California, Republicans are consolidating their efforts to overtake the state from the hands of Democrats.

Caitlyn Jenner's self-styled "compassionate disrupter" campaign is already getting traction on the national stage with the new ad.

"It’s an exercise in contrasts: Beaches, palm trees, folksy parades and the Golden Gate Bridge versus homeless encampments, fire-blackened towns, businesses shuttered by the pandemic. And the transgender political hopeful shares the screen with images of herself earlier in life, as Olympic decathlon champion ...” writes Los Angeles Times.

In the last season of Keeping Up With The Karshasinas, we learned that Caitlyn wanted to do something new with her career, so she reached out to the former wife and manager, Kris Jenner. She recommended Caitlyn to open a YouTube channel and start a cooking show. Flash forward to May 2021, Caitlyn's kitchen is cooking a political challenge against Governor Gavin Newsom, and with a bang. Moral of the story? No one puts Caitlyn in the kitchen.

The Biden administration has directed states to make adolescents eligible for vaccination immediately, should the FDA choose to issue an Emergency Use Authorization of the Pfizer vaccine for individuals age 12-15.

Take the Shot, DC - Get a beer is a new vaccination campaign run by DC Mayor. On Thursday, May 6, from 4 pm to 8 pm, at the REACH at the Kennedy Center, Washingtonians will be able to stroll in and get a J&J vaccine.

I am not sure what the DC government thought when they approved alcohol and vaccinations in the same sentence, especially with the increased alcohol consumption rates during the Covid-19 pandemic? I remember in the Hamptons; once, a real estate broker could not sell the property, so she invited people to an open house soiree where she served free botox for potential buyers. Do you get my drift?

Today, WTO will have its general council meeting in Geneva, Switzerland.

Across the pond, Secretary of State Antony Blinken met yesterday with Prime Minister Boris Johnson. Ned Price revealed that the two leaders "emphasized the importance of continued U.S.-UK collaboration to lead efforts at NATO, the G7, and with other partners to recover stronger from the COVID-19 pandemic, defend the values of open societies, tackle climate change, and face other global challenges."

At G7 in London, members of the Indian delegation had to isolate given that they've tested positive for Covid-19. India’s foreign minister Subrahmanyam Jaishankar pulled out of the meeting due to concerns that he, too, has been exposed to the virus.

Jaishankar tweeted that he "was made aware yesterday evening of exposure to possible Covid positive cases. As a measure of abundant caution and also out of consideration for others, I decided to conduct my engagements in the virtual mode."
