GOOD MORNING DC: Thus Spoke Trump

#GoodMorningDC. The Washington Post just issued a correction and Donald Trump issued a statement in response.

Good Morning DC with Chief White House Correspondent Ksenija Pavlovic Mcateer

Good Morning DC! It's Tuesday, and millions of Americans have already started to receive direct deposit checks.

Yesterday, in Nevada, the  Second Gentleman talked about Biden's American Rescue Plan.

"Everything I've seen is so impressive, the competence, the caring when you see the President speak about the bill and he was going the other day fully committed to roll out. fully committed to making sure that the benefits and the relief that are in this package are administered as quickly as efficiently as possible," Emhoff said.

The Washington Post just issued a correction and Donald Trump issued a statement. "While I appreciate the Washington Post's correction, which immediately makes the Georgia Witch Hunt a non-story, the original story was a Hoax, right from the very beginning. I would further appreciate a strong investigation into Fulton County, Georgia, and the Stacey Abrams political machine, which, I believe, would totally change the course of the presidential election in Georgia," said Trump.

"You will notice that establishment media errors, omissions, mistakes, and outright lies always slant one way—against me and against Republicans," Trump jumped at the opportunity to drive his point home. "Meanwhile," he continued, "stories that hurt Democrats or undermine their narratives are buried, ignored, or delayed until they can do the least harm—for example, after an election is over. Look no further than the negative coverage of the vaccine that preceded the election and the overdue celebration of the vaccine once the election had concluded."

The former President said that "A strong democracy requires a fair and honest press." In his view, "this latest media travesty underscores that legacy media outlets should be regarded as political entities—not journalistic enterprises." Thus spoke Trump.

Deb Haaland was confirmed by the Senate to lead the Interior Department making history as the first Native American to run the agency and the first to serve in the US Cabinet. As an open critic of the gas and oil industries and believer of the Green New Deal and progressive plans to stall climate change, Haaland faced major opposition from conservatives.

“The historic nature of my confirmation is not lost on me, but I will say, it is not about me. Rather, I hope this nomination would be an inspiration for Americans -- moving forward together as one nation and creating opportunities for all of us,” Haaland said during her confirmation.

In response to the sexual assault allegations and possible unethical vaccine distribution reports facing Gov. Cuomo, the White House is leaving the decision to replace the governor as head of the National Governors Association up to the organization itself. The administration also said that “every woman who steps forward needs to be treated with dignity and respect.” The White House is awaiting the conclusion of an official investigation into the sexual assault allegations to condemn the governor. They are also hoping checks put in place by the White House and CDC will combat any issues of unfair vaccine distribution.

Across the pond, everyone is talking about the new press briefing room the PM Boris Johnson built for 2.6 million pounds. Convert that into dollars, and you will get an idea how much too much that is for the White House-style briefing room at No 9 Downing Street. The one we have at the White House is way too modest and tiny for the British counterpart.

Spain is looking into testing a 4-day work week that would create a 32-hour week with no reduction in pay. Experts are hoping that it will improve mental health by creating a better work-life balance as well as increasing productivity. So, who is moving to Spain with us?

What will Biden do today? Biden will travel to Delaware County, Pennsylvania. In Chester,  he will meet with small businesses as a part of the American Rescue Plan tour.

Heads up: On Wednesday, March 17, the First Lady will travel to Concord, New Hampshire to visit Christa McAuliffe School. This trip is part of the Help is Here tour the Biden administration is taking to amplify the American Rescue Plan.

And that’s a wrap for this Tuesday morning March 16, 2021. All you need is love and espresso. Have you seen Ginny and Georgia on Netflix yet? You definitely should. Good Morning DC will be back tomorrow to give you the latest first.
