Today, President Donald J. Trump will attend the inaugural meeting of the White House Opportunity and Revitalization Council where he will introduce Mr. Scott Turner as the Executive Director of the Council. On December 12, 2018, President Trump signed an Executive Order establishing the White House Opportunity and Revitalization Council to carry out the Administration’s plan to target, streamline, and coordinate Federal resources to Opportunity Zones. The Trump Administration’s commitment overlays the Opportunity Zone tax incentive in the Tax Cuts and Jobs Act that incentivizes long-term private capital investment in economically distressed communities.

The Honorable Scott Turner, a businessman and former NFL player, served in the Texas House of Representatives from 2013-2017. He represented House District 33 which encompasses all of Rockwall County and portions of Collin County.
 
A fourth generation Texan, growing up in Richardson, Rep. Turner attended the University of Illinois, graduating with a degree in speech communications. In 1995, he began his 9-year professional football career as a defensive back when he was drafted by the Washington Redskins. He went on to play for the San Diego Chargers and the Denver Broncos. 

During the latter part of his football career, Rep. Turner spent a great deal of time alongside then-Chairman of the House Committee on Armed Services, former Congressman Duncan Hunter Sr., assisting with military and veteran affairs. After retiring from the NFL, Mr. Turner returned to the Dallas area to pursue his business career. He served as the Chief Inspiration Officer at Systemware, Inc. in Addison, TX, and a Senior advisor to the NFL’s EVP of Football Operations.
 
Mr. Turner volunteers and serves on several community boards including the Baylor University Medical Center Board of Trustees, Dallas Baptist University Board of Trustees, and Guide Stone Financial Board of Trustees. He and his wife, Robin of 23 years, are active members of Prestonwood Baptist Church where he serves as a Deacon and occasional guest pastor.
 
In February of 2016, Mr. Turner received an Honorary Doctorate of Humanities from Dallas Baptist University for his outstanding Christian leadership. 
Scott and his wife Robin reside in Frisco, TX. 
 
Their son Solomon, is a freshman student-athlete at Baylor University in Waco, TX.
